I started writing fanfiction in around 2010 and loved it. Honestly, if there was a fandom I was still in that I felt I could add a story to, I would. FF gave me writing confidence as well as time and deadline management. That said, I hadn't heard of people binding and selling it-- lets not. Thanks for this :)
I fall in and out with it! I’ve got a couple fandoms going at the moment which is so nice!
The binding thing is insane. They clearly never had to worry about Anne Rice suing them and it shows.
I think a lot of the fandom etiquette got lost when a bunch of people joined fandoms through tik tok during the pandemic. A lot of people like to use comments and what not to criticize fics. And I’m just like buddy that’s not what we do here.
I’ve never understood people’s disdain for fanfiction. It can be so formative to writers and readers!!
People like to turn their noses up at things that make others happy. Just like people have disdain for romance books!
As a loud fan of Smut, I feel this! Community. Community. Community.
Absolutely! Community is key.
I love this Michelle!
Thank you!!💜
